Where weird wins.
You're here because your creative career hasn't turned out the way you thought it would. Instead of purposeful, heart-led work, and supportive teams fuelled by fresh ideas, you've faced creative burnout, toxic behaviours, and the sinking feeling that maybe you weren't cut out for this career, that maybe you don't belong. Believe me, you do.

This is the creative RSPCA for
non-conforming, barely-employed marketers and creatives. The ones bored of mistreatment, risk-adverse attitudes and who are ready to re-write the future of their creative career.
Together, we'll take the creases of our journey and fold them into something bold. Something that flies. Because while the world hits copy + paste on sameness, in The Fold, weird wins.

My Marketing Story
It's funny—once, someone told me, "Hey, you're creative!" and just like that I was set on a path of creativity. But that's just the thing, no one ever taught me the dangers of triggering others with ideas they wish they had or the reality of the demanding working conditions for creative individuals, stories of people crying over 13-hour work days in the toilets or finishing their shifts going home in ambulances being the "norm".
It was scary, to graduate and start making a career for myself. Instead of welcoming arms, I was let go from my first job (the founder of the two-man-band-agency later apologised saying he wasn't "ready for someone creative like me") before settling in jobs that ticked the creativity box. In these roles, I realised people didn't love making the same creative impact as me. They settled for ideas they'd always tried, afraid of disruption, of the new, of the novelty I found my brain to be so eager about.

Before I knew it, I was hopping from agency to in-house marketing team, in search of an unmasked culture and un-ego-testicle bosses. Did I find it? No. So I built my own workplace, inside of my head. Work from the beanbag, my internal boss would say, if it means your brain will come out to play. Think up new ideas, my internal boss would encourage, if it keeps your creativity from drying up. Everyday I showed up for myself when my workplace didn't. Which is why The Fold is here for fed up, misfit marketers and creatives who are, despite feeling pushed away, want to stay.
